Painting of Falcon Jigsaw

Portrait by Jo Jessen

‘FALCON JIGSAW’ 1991 – 2001

Many of the young horses we are currently campaigning and breeding are by our stallion Falcon Jigsaw (Jacko), who died not long after we moved to Falcon Park. Jacko was bred by John’s father, and with John began an eventing and showjumping career, winning a Pre Novice event and showing huge talent as a showjumper. Pip began riding him in early 1996 and there is a running joke in the family that she ‘stole’ him from John and turned him into a dressage horse!

Jacko ended his career on 281 points, having won a number of Championships at various levels, including Reserve National Elementary Champion in 1997, Central Coast Advanced Horse of the Year in 1999 and 2000 and Central Coast FEI Champion in 2001. He was a member of the NSW Dressage Squad in 1997.
Our broodmares are chosen because of a combination of breeding, performance and trainability.

SKANSEN CLOUD 9 – (Cloudy) February 1998 – 16.3h bay mare by Jet Set D – Lady Handcrafted (AWHA Elite Studbook).
Cloudy is one of the most beautiful mares you will ever see – In 2005 she was developing a successful dressage career and competing at Medium level when it was discovered that she had a cracked tooth, and there was an abscess in her upper jaw which required major surgery. While she was recovering we decided to put her in foal and so began her new career as a broodmare. She has had four beautiful foals for us. Falcon Lunar – a filly by Welfenadel, Falcon Royale – a colt by Royal Hit, Falcon Disco Hit – a filly by Royal Hit, and a beautiful colt by Fiji R (Florencio) in 2010. Click here for Cloudy’s performance. To see a short video clip of Cloudy in 2005, click here

FALCON LADYHAWKE – (Monday) 16.3h TB bay mare began her career as a hack. However when we bought her we discovered that she had quite a jump and John evented her to Advanced level. He always says that she was one of the most honest horses he has ever ridden. Always tried her heart out. When she was 10 years old we retired her and since then she has had four lovely foals. Viva, by Vivant, Stormboy by Premier Des Hayettes, Finale by Falcon Legacy and Sunday by Abduell II. For many of the horses we have sold, we include a video clip, photographs and performance record.

Andross
‘ANDROSS‘ – 2005 – 16.3h chestnut gelding
by ‘A Seduction’

Pip’s ‘special horse’ is Falcon Andross, a 16.3h chestnut gelding by A’Seduction. Andross is a lovely golden chestnut and a real character.

Most of the horses at Falcon Park have a ‘formal’ name which is used when they compete… but at home they have a ‘stable, or nickname’. Most of our horses were bred here and got their nicknames as foals – usually because of some physical characteristic, or how they behaved. But Andross is different! He came as a yearling and has aways been ‘Andross’ However he has now earned his own unique nickname which is a combination of how he looks, how he behaves and his own particular character…. Most nicknames for our horses are short but not this time! As mentioned he is a lovely golden chestnut, sweet natured, yes! But at the same time sharp, keen with lots of zest and enthusiasm. So meet ‘The Marmalade Express.

2017 – Andross is now competing successfully at Prix St. George and Inter 1 level

HEMISPHERE – Grey gelding. 16h 5 yo
By Salute/Croftley Artisan colt  and out of Jalme/Salute mare.

Santa is a gorgeous looking horse, compact but elegant with a beautiful front.  He is very talented on the flat, light on his feet and has enormous presence and stylish good looks.

He has been to Central Coast Showjump Club several times and jumped around 80cm.  He has also been to Sydney Showjumping Club and the Harris Show last November where he jumped 80cm.

Santa is a naturally brave jumper with an athletic style and a huge amount of scope.  He has been over the xc jumps on our property, water, ditches, bank etc and is brave and honest.  John feels he would be a very talented eventer given his natural confidence and attitude over fences as well as his talent on the flat.

CELERITY PARK FANTASTIK – Chestnut gelding. 15.3h 4 yo

By Celerity Park Fabulous Lad, and out of Celerity Park Dazzling Star ( Celerity Park Starlight/ Dijon-by Domingo).

Fantastik is a stunning horse.  He is extremely athletic and has movement to burn!  His jump style is very elastic with enormous scope and talent. He is very brave and takes everything in his stride. He has been over the xc jumps on our property, water, ditches, bank etc and is brave and honest.

He has been to several Central Coast SJ training days and jumped around 80cm and he has also competed at 80cm at SSJC and the Mt. White Show in November where he was equal 1st in the 4-y-o  Class.

Frank is very talented on the flat.  He is naturally balanced and has beautiful cadence and suspension in the trot.  He is well behaved and easy to have around, travels well, lunges, etc.  He is used to being stabled and is not high maintenance or clingy in any way.

John feels he would make a super eventer, given that he is so naturally confident and brave over the fences, as well as his talent for dressage , or he would make a serious showjumper for a competitive rider.

MR FAHRENHEIT

Mrahrenheit

Mr. Fahrenheit at NSW Dressage Clarendon – Photos by Franz Venhaus & Lauren James

2010 Bay gelding,16.3h, 5yo, by Rudolph (by Regardez Moi ) out of Salute mare.

Mr Fahrenheit aka Comet was purchased by us as a 3 year old from his breeders, Blair and Nikki Richardson. Blair broke him in, and turned him out, but thought he was going to be more suited to dressage or showjumping, rather than eventing which is what Blair and Nikki specialize in. We saw him, and thought, Wow! what a lovely horse!!… so we bought him and John jumped him a little at first, but it soon became apparent that dressage was going to be Comet’s forte. Essentially the idea was to train him to a certain level and then sell on, hence he is now on the market.

Comet has been a delight to work with; he is the consummate dressage horse. Beautiful looking with one of those expressive faces full of personality. He has a naturally round shape, lovely cadence in the trot with expressive forearm action.

John reckons he is one of the most trainable horses he has ever ridden on the flat. He tries hard, without getting flustered, and is 100% genuine and honest. Recently WE had a break and Comet had 10 days when he was lunged every 2nd or 3rd day. When we got back home, after Comet’s second ride, John said he could take him to a comp and do a good test! When he has had time off, he is always sensible and safe to get back on.

Comet started competing at Prelim level on 08.3.14, at Dressage NSW, Clarendon, winning his first ever test with 75.2%! During 2014, he did 17 tests at Prelim and Novice level for eleven top 3 placings and all scores but one were over 65% with six scores over 70%! He was Hunter Valley Champs Novice Champion, and Central Coast Champs Novice Champion, as well as CCDA Reserve Champion Novice Horse of the Year.

Comet is perfect to handle in every way. At shows, he happily buries his nose in his hay bag, and doesn’t worry when the other horses come and go….he doesn’t need lunging, isn’t horse shy, and is a genuinely quiet with a solid work ethic.

He is now schooling in all the Elementary work; shoulder in and traver, walk/canter/walk, counter canter etc, and on 29th March won his first Elementary Test at Hunter Valley Dressage Association Competition.
Results: Novice 2.3 – 3rd. 72.7%,  Elementary 3.2 – 1st. 68.6%.  Not bad for a 5yo!

‘FALCON SPLASH’ (By Falcon Jigsaw) is one of our all time favourites.

We bred him and John competed with him very successfully in dressage, eventing and showjumping until he went to the US. Suzanne his first owner in the US competed in eventing and she and Splash did well. Then Boyd Martin took over the ride and rode him at his first Advanced 3*** 3DE start, where he was 11th. To see a slideshow of Boyd and Falcon Splash, click here
Now Splash has a new owner – 16 year old Jacob Fletcher who is a young up and coming eventer from Arkansas. Jacob and Splash have been together now for two over years and have developed a good relationship so we were really pleased to get the latest news from Jacob (20/1/2011) telling us ” I just wanted to let you know that we are loving Splash more and more! We got individual 5th and the team bronze at the NAJYRC this year, and Splash and I made the Pan Am Games Long List! He is truly a remarkable horse!

Jacob says “I couldn’t be more proud of him! The goal now is to move up to advanced in the upcoming winter season”.

On the right is a pic of Jacob celebrating with his coach, Mike Huber and a pic of Jacob and Splash competing.

Over the years we have bred and sold many horses, but it’s only quite recently with digital and video cameras, that we have been able to have photos and video clips of them taken from the day they are born to their first competition and beyond. It’s great to have that record and any horses we breed and sell now, come with ‘baby pics’ videos and a record of performance.
